Sedes Air Base lies about 15 km east of Thessaloniki, close to Macedonia International Airport. Aviation activity at the site dates back to the Balkan Wars era around 1913. It is no longer used for civilian flights; today it is operated exclusively by the Hellenic Air Force, hosting the 350th Guided Missile Wing with Patriot air-defence batteries, and it also houses an aviation museum.
