Rhodes Maritsa Airport (ICAO: LGRD) is a Hellenic Air Force base near the village of Maritsa, about 14 km southwest of Rhodes town in the South Aegean. Built in 1938 during the Italian occupation of the Dodecanese, it served as a Regia Aeronautica base and was bombed and contested during World War II. After the war it was Rhodes' main civil airport until the new Rhodes International Airport opened in 1977, after which it reverted to military use.
