Kalymnos Island National Airport serves the Dodecanese island of Kalymnos, famed for sponge diving and rock climbing, lying close to the capital Pothia. A relatively modern facility, it commenced operations in August 2006 and is run by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority. Perched at an elevation of about 235 metres, its single asphalt runway, oriented 10/28, measures roughly 1,135 metres, limiting traffic to smaller regional turboprop aircraft.
